Credit Bureau Collection Services or CBCS of Ohio has been nailed for more than 1 million dollars in fines and penalties stemming from their illegal and nefarious activities wherein they falsified information about alleged debts by consumers and told them that they owed money when they actually did not. Click here for the FTC site.

An attorney colleague of mine emailed me last night with the news which just broke yesterday. I have some personal knowledge of these dirt bags because they tried to victimize one of my clients. I used the demand for validation letter which I offer you gratis on this blog (upper right side). They failed to validate. Subsequently, I referred my client to attorney Sarah Poriss who sued them on behalf of my client and won.

In previous blog posts I have offered readers my free debt validation letter with audio instructions. If you go to to the upper right side of this page and opt in with your name and email it will be yours with no strings. Whether you know it or not this is your first line of defense against debt collectors who have no problem filing fictitious papers in the hope that you will not appear or know what to do before they get a quick default judgment on you. These suits are clogging the civil court dockets in most states. They number in the hundreds of thousands.

If the above is not bad enough, how about when people are sued by law firms acting as debt collectors or law firms working for debt collectors and never have any idea that they are being sued because they have not been legally served?!!!!! Read the article and see for yourself

No matter who you are or what you do you must request a copy of this report for your own good. I found no mistakes or misstatements of fact but let me tell you their data is very comprehensive. It includes material from the Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange, two reports from current insurance carriers, a pre-employment background report which may include your personal credit information, your state driving record if the employer requests such information.
A copy of an Esteem report which would list circumstances where you admitted to have been convicted of theft while working at a retail company.

In addition there is a copy of ScreenNow which displays results of a national criminal records search, a Resident Data eviction report and a public records search report which shows real estate ownership records, bankruptcies, professional licenses and historical addresses.

Although ChoicePoint is not a credit reporting agency they will provide credit information to a prospective employer or landlord if requested to do so.

If you have read my blog articles or the user manual which comes with my system you know the importance of monitoring your credit reports at least once a year using annualcreditreport.com . The good news is that Choice Point will gladly give you a copy of the information they have on you if you fill out their forms. Here are the links:

Request for full disclosure, CD107, CD107-2, Frequently Asked Questions . Trust me please on one point. If you do not get your file you are making a huge mistake.
