It’s About Time:Transunion Sues Asset Acceptance Corp (Midland Credit)
If ever a company deserved to be sued it is this one. The suit filed by Transunion claims that Asset Acceptance Corp (Midland Credit) knowingly furnished erroneous consumer information to the credit reporting agency as as a result caused financial injury to Transunion who became a party in the class action suit against Asset Acceptance Corp. You can read the summons and complaint right here. Erroneous reporting of consumer credit information to a credit bureau is only just the tip of the iceberg in a long litany of flagrant violations of both state and federal consumer law. The amazing part of the saga is simply that Asset Acceptance Corp is permitted to remain in business and has not had its doors shuttered by the state governments where its offices are domiciled or by the US Justice Department. The law violations committed by AAC are in the tens of thousands and range from the action discussed herein to violations of the TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act) , robo signing of phony affidavits, the use of sewer or gutter services and on and on and on.

Even The Educated And Wealthy Are Victims
Last week I posted on an article from the Buffalo News about two criminals who were sentenced to lengthy prison terms for victimizing people by masquerading as attorneys and police officers and then fleecing them out of about 6 million dollars over an extended period of time. One of the points that the article makes is that even educated people were taken in by these felons. I am always reminding people that you need to understand that the consumer statutes both state and federal are there to protect you. Although far from perfect, they can still work to your advantage but you must educate yourself. Just because your are an engineer, Phd or some other professional do not for one minute think you are immune from being taken over the coals by these scum slime balls.
