You might be reading my headline and asking yourself how I am going to tie in the holiday, the new administration and all of us. Not so hard really. Thanksgiving is a celebration of our well being, a feast resulting from a productive year of work, and a celebration of family. Truly an American original day molded by our national experience and history. We now have to rely heavily on what has made us the greatest nation ever to exist on the face of the the planet; that drive, that conviction and those strong beliefs and values.
Our future and our well being is largely in the hands of our new President Elect and his economic advisors. Time has run out and as President Elect Obama says, “There is not a moment to waste”. I would hope that the people who work on this team of advisors do regularly go the local grocery stores and supermarkets. Go ahead and laugh at me but I noticed that lowest price I can purchase Dorito’s for is 25% higher than last year due to fuel costs and other factors. No laughing matter for a chip devotee such as me. The Dorito’s are symbolic of all other the ridiculously high costs at the food markets. Look at cheese, milk, beef , frozen vegetables and canned goods. Have you bought a slice a pizza lately? Its enough to give you gastric distress. People are using credit cards to make ends meet and falling behind on those credit card payments. The truth is that whether you are rich or poor there is a “collective us”. We all will rise or fall together based on what is done in the coming months. I won’t even remind you of what your 401(k) is worth or if you had to sell your house what price would it fetch if it could even be sold. I would rather look ahead and forget what has happened this year and make it a distant memory.
Our friends at the collection agencies and their attorney friends and partners are having a ball. Let us hope they don’t invite you to the dance.
To help you gain tremendous insight in into the ethical abuses and injustices that debt collectors and their attorney partners commit each and every day I am going to refer you to a paper written by Daniel A. Edelman and James Latturner of the law firm Edelman, Combs, Latturner & Goodwin, LLC. It is 50 pages plus long but it is a real gift written by very accomplished professionals who specialize in consumer legal issues. You may find it a bit technical but I beg you to read it. If you ever have a problem with debt predator collectors you will thank me for this steer. Sometimes you do get something for nothing. This is one of them. You will find the link for this White Paper at the bottom of the first page of my website: www.stopthecallsfast.com
