Why Did I Write A Blog Post About What The FCRA Does Not Protect You From?

After I was done wriing the blog of January 26, the retail chain had one of their people send me a boilerplate answer which did not address their questionable business practices or the fact that they claimed to have retrieved information from Equifax which was a total misstatement of fact and a fabrication. See how polite I am being here. Okay, it was an out and out lie.

I contacted Equifax and they have been most helpful. I now have a letter in my possession from them stating that on the date in question (December 26,2008) there was no derogatory information in my credit file whatsoever. This conclusively proves that the bank in question is guilty of dispensing false information what I consider to be fraudulent conduct. The bank’s letter to me was typical of the arrogance and dismissive attitude that seems to have been so prevalent lately in Wall St. and within the big banks of which this institution is one.

From what you are reading in this posting and the last one you can see I hope just how your rights and credit score can be compromised by what you are not told when you are applying for credit. In my world the omission of material facts or information which might alter a decision to make an application for credit is the same as lying to me.

So what have I done to help bring about a change in the manor in which businesses disclose what sources of information they are using besides your credit report? I have written to Senator Christopher J. Dodd who is the Chairperson of the Senate Banking Committee. I have given him the the entire file on this matter including the recorded message from the subject bank claiming that they received the negative information from Equifax.

Hopefully my efforts here are the beginning what is needed to get the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act amended to further protect consumers against the abuses discussed herein. Please checkout the news article written about me : www.stopthecallsfast.com at the top of the page.
Until next time,
